In 1984 the first steps towards PIC as we know it today was taken. Together with Århus Stevedore Kompagni, the software house Plus Data developed a system to manage containers at the terminal in Århus. The distinctive aspects of the solution was the fact that it was interactive and all users were linked online to the information centre. From the very beginning the solution was designed to service all parties in the chain of transport.
In 1998 the organization behind the solution was spun off into its own company under the name CSA and changed its name to FAA Information Technology (FAA IT) in 2002. The objective was still to provide the terminal industry with an efficient system to manage the daily operation.
In October 2005, FAA IT bought the Swedish company InPort Intelligent Port Systems AB, situated in Karlstad. At the same time, FAA IT changed name to InPort A/S. Both companies are characterized by a long experience with great industry knowledge and also dedicated
employees with high competence within programming and communication. Today, InPort A/S is owned by the Danish parent company Cargo Service Holding A/S and owns InPort AB.
The key figures behind the original development in 1984 are today management team and have ensured an ongoing development to this day, where we have a modern and efficient mobile, online and real-time system – Practical Intermodal Communications.
